Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, under the direction of Vladimir Issaev, will open its 20th season with an exciting new program. The company will feature two new important works: "Nuestros Valses" by prolific Venezuelan choreographer Vicente Nebrada and “Viva
España” by its creative Artistic Director Vladimir Issaev. Nebrada’s “Our Waltzes” is a famous ballet that has been performed internationally by important ballet companies in the US, SouthAmerica and Europe and is widely considered to be his signature work.
This demanding piece set by Zane Wilson and Yanis Pikieris from the Nebrada Foundation will be an exciting new challenge for Mr. Issaev’s exuberant dancers.
Mr. Issaev’s “Viva España”, set to Jules Massenet’s exhilarating music based on the epic story of “El Cid”, is a seductive and exotic work inspired by his dancers’ extraordinary skills.
Also included in the program is Yanis Pikieris’ “Danzón”. This audience favorite work from the company’s repertoire, set to music by Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, is now recreated in solidarity and homage to the recent events in that country.
Prima ballerina Mary Carmen Catoya along with Kazuya Arima will perform Mr. Issaev’s recently created Pas de Deux “Vertigo”, part of a work in progress based on the libretto of the film by Baltasar Santiago Martin
